Guruvayur Devaswom to Build New Cowsheds at Vengad Gokulam Within Six Months

Guruvayur: The Guruvayur Devaswom has decided to construct new cowsheds at Vengad Gokulam, Malappuram, within the next six months. It has also been decided to shift all cattle currently housed at the Gokulam near the PWD road to the Vrindavan Goshala, located farther away from residential areas.

The decision was taken during a visit to Vengad Gokulam by Devaswom Chairman A.V. Gopinath and Devaswom Managing Committee member K.S. Balagopal, in the presence of senior officials from the Devaswom engineering wing and officers in charge of the facility.

The Devaswom authorities said urgent steps would be taken to build permanent sheds for the protection and welfare of the cattle. Until the new facilities are completed, work has already begun on three temporary sheds at the Vrindavan premises, and instructions have been issued to construct three more temporary sheds.

The Chairman also directed the contractor to ensure the timely removal of cow dung and other waste from the goshala. Devaswom authorities said all possible measures would be taken to address waste-management issues associated with the facility, and officials have been instructed to implement the necessary actions without delay.
