The funeral of veteran Malayalam actor Salim Kumar will be held today. A prominent presence in the Malayalam film industry for decades, Salim Kumar was celebrated for his unique acting style that entertained and moved audiences alike. Known as a master of comedy, he also earned critical acclaim for his powerful performances in serious roles.
He won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his outstanding performance in Adaminte Makan Abu, bringing national recognition to Malayalam cinema. Through his remarkable versatility and talent, Salim Kumar left an indelible mark on the film industry.
Members of the public will be able to pay their last respects at the Paravur Town Hall until 1 p.m. Following the public viewing, his mortal remains will be taken to his residence. The funeral is scheduled to take place at around 3 p.m.
Salim Kumar passed away yesterday while undergoing treatment at Amrita Hospital. He had previously undergone a liver transplant surgery. He made his film debut in 1996 with Ishtamanu Nooru Vattam. In 2006, he received the Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actor for his performance in Achanurangatha Veedu.
His passing marks the end of an illustrious career that brought laughter, thought-provoking performances, and countless memorable characters to Malayalam cinema.
