Pakistan on Thursday reiterated that it would continue to take necessary action against terrorists operating from Afghan territory while maintaining that a negotiated solution remains its preferred approach.
Speaking at a weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan has been a victim of terrorism for years, with thousands of civilians and security personnel losing their lives in attacks allegedly planned and launched from across the Afghan border.
Andrabi stated that no responsible country can remain passive when its citizens and security forces are repeatedly targeted. He emphasized that Pakistan reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect the lives and property of its nationals, describing such actions as a last resort based on the principle of necessity.
The statement comes amid continuing concerns over cross-border militancy and security challenges along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
