
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held talks with Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing, reviewing the full spectrum of bilateral relations and exploring ways to strengthen cooperation in key sectors.
Welcoming the Myanmar President on his first foreign visit since assuming office, Modi said India was honoured by his decision to choose India as his first overseas destination. He also expressed happiness that the President began his visit with a trip to Bodh Gaya, seeking the blessings of Lord Buddha.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed measures to deepen cooperation in trade, rare earth minerals, healthcare, connectivity, heritage restoration and capacity building. They also agreed to enhance collaboration in maritime security, cyber security and other areas of mutual interest.
Modi reiterated that Myanmar remains a crucial partner in India’s “Neighbourhood First”, “Act East” and Indo-Pacific policies, underscoring the strategic importance of bilateral ties.
The talks reflected the commitment of both countries to further strengthen cooperation and expand engagement across economic, security and cultural sectors.
