Actor-turned-politician Vijay officially assumed office as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Sunday, marking a major political shift in the state.
Vijay took oath at a grand ceremony held in Chennai in the presence of political leaders, party workers and thousands of supporters.
The swearing-in marks the rise of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to power and the beginning of what supporters describe as the “Ilaya Thalapathy era” in Tamil Nadu politics.
With TVK forming the government, the state witnessed the end of decades-long dominance by the DMK and AIADMK in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
