First Iranian oil cargo since 2019 heads to India

NEW DELHI: India is set to receive its first Iranian crude oil cargo since 2019, with a shipment heading towards Gujarat. According to ship tracking data, a vessel carrying around 600,000 barrels of crude oil is en route to Vadinar port.

The development follows a recent sanctions waiver by the United States, allowing limited trade of Iranian oil already at sea. Experts said the move comes at a crucial time as Indian refiners face tightening inventories. The resumption of supplies signals a temporary revival of oil trade between India and Iran after a gap of nearly five years.
