Delhi: Flight services that were disrupted due to rising tensions between Iran and the United States have partially resumed. Oman Air and Air India Express flights from Kochi to Muscat resumed operations from Tuesday morning. Special flights have also been arranged to assist passengers who were stranded due to the disruption.
Air India said that most flights to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Qatar will remain suspended until midnight on March 4. However, services to North America, the United Kingdom, and Europe will continue as per schedule using alternative air routes.
Air India Express announced that scheduled services to and from Muscat will operate on March 4. In addition to regular flights connecting Delhi, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mangaluru, Mumbai, and Tiruchirappalli, the airline will also operate additional services to Delhi, Kochi, and Mumbai.
Flights to and from Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE have been temporarily suspended until March 4. Air India also said that larger aircraft will be deployed for flights to Jeddah and Dubai on March 3 and 4. A Boeing 777 aircraft with around 350 seats departed from Mumbai to Jeddah, while a Boeing 787-9 with about 300 seats will operate from Delhi to Dubai. Another Boeing 787-8 aircraft with over 250 seats will operate from Mumbai to Dubai early on March 4.
