BJP Lodges Complaint Against Sonia Gandhi Over Vande Mataram Controversy

Bengaluru: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday lodged complaints against senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi in Bengaluru and Mangaluru in connection with a controversy surrounding the recitation of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’, officials said.

In Bengaluru, the BJP Yuva Morcha lodged a complaint at the Malleshwaram police station, alleging that Sonia Gandhi had insulted the national song. The party’s youth wing sought legal action in connection with the alleged incident.

The Yuva Morcha also staged a protest near the BJP state headquarters in Bengaluru, raising slogans over the issue.

The BJP has demanded appropriate action over what it described as disrespect towards ‘Vande Mataram’. Further details regarding the complaints and any action by the police were awaited.
