Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan to Visit Kochi; Tight Traffic Curbs Announced

Kochi: The Vice President of India, C. P. Radhakrishnan, will arrive in Kochi today for a two-day official visit, with elaborate arrangements in place across the city. He is scheduled to land at Cochin International Airport, Nedumbassery, at 2:10 pm and will be accorded an official reception by the Kerala government. From there, he will proceed to Changanassery to attend the centenary valedictory function of SB College. After staying overnight in Kochi, the Vice President will travel to Thrissur on Sunday morning to take part in the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Nattara Gana Ashram. He is expected to return to the airport and depart in the afternoon.

In view of the high-profile visit, stringent traffic regulations have been imposed across key stretches of Kochi city. Restrictions will be in force today from 5 pm to 7 pm and on Sunday from 8 am to 11 am, covering major routes including Willingdon Island, Naval Base, Thevara, M.G. Road, Banerji Road, Park Avenue Road and Shanmugham Road up to High Court Junction. Police have issued detailed diversion plans for vehicles from Fort Kochi, Mattancherry and Vypin, urging motorists to follow alternative routes. During VVIP movement, vehicle access will be restricted up to High Court Junction, with partial regulation along M.G. Road to ensure smooth and secure transit.
