Kerala is heading into a spell of scorching weather, with experts warning that daytime temperatures could rise by up to 4 degrees Celsius above normal in the coming days. The state is unlikely to receive any rainfall over the next five days, intensifying heat conditions across districts. While nights and early mornings remain relatively cooler, the sharp rise in daytime temperatures is expected to cause widespread discomfort.
Health and disaster management authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines to beat the heat. Avoiding direct sun exposure between 11 am and 3 pm, drinking plenty of water even without thirst, and wearing loose, light-coloured cotton clothes are strongly advised. Officials also cautioned about a heightened risk of fire outbreaks in markets, commercial buildings, and waste dumping areas, stressing the need for strict fire safety measures and regular audits to prevent accidents during the heatwave.
