PM Modi to Inaugurate 28th Commonwealth Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers on January 15

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) on January 15, marking a significant international parliamentary event hosted by India.

The conference will bring together Speakers of Parliaments and Presiding Officers of Legislative bodies from across Commonwealth nations to discuss key issues related to democratic governance, parliamentary practices and institutional strengthening. The event aims to promote dialogue, cooperation and the sharing of best practices among legislatures of member countries.

In his inaugural address, the Prime Minister is expected to underline India’s commitment to democratic values, inclusive governance and the importance of strong parliamentary institutions in addressing contemporary global challenges. PM is also likely to highlight India’s parliamentary traditions and its role in strengthening democratic cooperation within the Commonwealth.

The conference agenda includes deliberations on the evolving role of legislatures, use of technology in parliamentary functioning, transparency, accountability and capacity building of parliamentary institutions. Several thematic sessions and bilateral interactions are scheduled during the conference.

India hosting the CSPOC underscores its growing role in international parliamentary diplomacy and its emphasis on fostering democratic dialogue among nations of the Commonwealth.
