Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has scripted another milestone, recording the second-highest single-day ticket revenue in its history with a collection of ₹11.71 crore. The achievement marks KSRTC’s return to the coveted ₹10-crore club, reinforcing signs of a sustained turnaround in the public transport major.
The all-time highest daily revenue of ₹13.01 crore was achieved earlier on January 5. According to KSRTC Managing Director Dr P. S. Pramoj Shankar, the latest figures are the result of well-planned reforms and consistent operational improvements rather than one-off gains.
He pointed out that KSRTC’s average daily collection has shown steady growth—from ₹7.8 crore in December 2024 to ₹8.34 crore in December 2025 under similar conditions. A similar upward trend is visible in January, with average daily revenue rising from ₹7.53 crore in January 2025 to ₹8.86 crore so far in January 2026.
The growth has been driven by better passenger amenities and improved services, which have helped bring commuters back to KSRTC buses. Passenger numbers have also increased significantly, with average daily ridership rising from 19.84 lakh in 2024 to 20.27 lakh at present—an addition of nearly 43,000 passengers per day. The annual increase in ridership now stands at 1.6 crore.
Dr Shankar credited the collective efforts of KSRTC’s employees, supervisors, and officers for the consistent revenue gains, stating that teamwork and commitment have been key to the corporation’s improving financial performance.
