Sabarimala: In a welcome move for lakhs of devotees, the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has announced a major upgrade to the annadanam menu at Sabarimala. The current offering of pulao and sambar will soon be replaced with a full traditional Kerala sadya, complete with payasam.
The new menu, designed to provide devotees with a wholesome and culturally rooted meal, is expected to be implemented by Wednesday or Thursday, according to TDB officials. The decision comes after feedback from pilgrims who expressed interest in enjoying a more authentic Kerala dining experience during their pilgrimage.
The revamped sadya is likely to include rice, sambar, avial, thoran, kalan, pickle, and banana chips, along with a sweet payasam, offering a complete traditional flavor that aligns with Kerala’s culinary heritage.
Devotees and temple officials have welcomed the move, noting that the new menu will enhance the spiritual and cultural experience at one of India’s most revered pilgrimage centres.
