PM Modi to Review Surat Bullet Train Station on November 15; Major Push for Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the under-construction Bullet Train Station in Surat on November 15, marking a significant milestone in India’s ambitious Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will review the overall progress of the project, including station development, track installation, and the deployment of advanced Japanese Shinkansen technology. The Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train is India’s first high-speed rail initiative and is expected to revolutionize long-distance travel between the two major cities.

Once operational, the Bullet Train will cut travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to just about two hours, a dramatic reduction compared to the current 5–6 hours by road or rail. The project is also expected to boost economic activity, generate employment, and strengthen regional connectivity across Maharashtra and Gujarat.

The Prime Minister’s visit underscores the government’s commitment to fast-tracking the high-speed rail corridor, which is being executed with technical and financial assistance from Japan. The Surat station, one of the key hubs on the route, is designed with state-of-the-art facilities, modern architecture, and high passenger-handling capacity.

Officials say the project is progressing steadily, and the PM’s inspection aims to further accelerate construction and ensure timely completion of India’s first Bullet Train network.
