25,000 Fake Close-Up Toothpaste Tubes Seized in Delhi — Police Smash Major Counterfeit Racket Targeting Hindustan Unilever

The Delhi Police have dismantled a massive counterfeit manufacturing network producing fake Hindustan Unilever (HUL) products, including the well-known Close-Up toothpaste.

During a high-impact raid, police officers discovered and seized 25,000 counterfeit Close-Up toothpaste tubes, expertly packaged to mimic the genuine product. The operation exposed a sophisticated racket that had been circulating fake goods across several markets, deceiving consumers and damaging the brand’s credibility.

The crackdown followed a formal complaint by Hindustan Unilever Ltd., which alerted authorities to the growing trade of imitation products bearing their label. Acting swiftly, police stormed the illegal production unit and confiscated raw materials, packaging equipment, and labeling machinery used in the operation.

Two individuals have been arrested, and investigators are now tracking down other members of the syndicate believed to be operating across multiple regions.

Officials revealed that the counterfeit goods were being sold widely in the Delhi region, posing serious health risks to consumers. The police have pledged continued vigilance and stronger enforcement to eliminate such fraudulent operations.

This major bust underscores the scale of India’s counterfeit goods problem and sends a clear message — those profiting from fake and unsafe products will face the full force of the law.
