Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for several districts in Kerala on August 23, 24 and 25, forecasting the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall. No district in the state has been placed under an alert for today or tomorrow.
Districts Under Yellow Alert
August 23: Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod
August 24: Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur
August 25: Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam
Low-Pressure Area, Cyclonic Circulations
The low-pressure area over northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas continues to persist, while a cyclonic circulation is prevailing over the north Bay of Bengal and Bangladesh.
Another cyclonic circulation is located near the north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts, over the central-western and northwestern Bay of Bengal.
Under the influence of these weather systems, Kerala is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall from August 21 to 25, the IMD said. Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely at some places on August 23, 24 and 25.
