A 60-year-old woman undergoing treatment for amoebic meningoencephalitis has died. The deceased has been identified as Chandrika, a resident of Kulathupuzha in Kollam district.
She was admitted to the Government Medical College Thiruvananthapuram after developing severe symptoms of the infection. Chandrika had been receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where she passed away while undergoing treatment.
Health authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and investigate the source of the infection.
