West Bengal Govt Directs Schools to Sing Vande Mataram During Morning Assembly

The newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party government in West Bengal has directed all schools in the state to sing “Vande Mataram” during morning assemblies.

The state Education Department issued instructions to all government and aided schools to begin classes with the rendition of Vande Mataram during the daily assembly.

School authorities have also been asked to record and maintain video footage to ensure that students and schools are complying with the directive.

Officials noted that the national anthem “Jana Gana Mana” is already being sung in schools, and the new order adds Vande Mataram as part of the morning assembly proceedings.
