Voting Underway for Mizoram’s Lone Rajya Sabha Seat

Voting commenced on Thursday for the election to Mizoram’s sole Rajya Sabha seat, with two candidates contesting the prestigious parliamentary berth.

The ruling Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) has nominated its party spokesperson, K. Laltluangkima, while the principal opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) has fielded advocate and writer Zothansangi Hmar.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (Congress) have opted to abstain from the voting process.

Election officials said polling is progressing smoothly, and the outcome will determine Mizoram’s lone representative in the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of Parliament.
