Thrissur, July 04 (IVC) The appeal of the (Pious Union) Monastery of Holy Ruah (MHR) Congregation filed before the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches, Vatican was rejected ,according to a statement of the Vicar General of the Thrissur Archdiocese, Mgr Jose Konikkara.
The Archdiocese here had issued an order No. 980/2023 dated April 27, 2023 dissolving MHR and proscribing its activities in the archdiocese, the statement added. The Congregation of MHR was established by an order of the Archbishop vide his order No.1900/2017 dated Sept 08, 2017, which purported to be leading the life of religious.
The archdiocese of Thrissur had dissolved the congregation and proscribed its activities vide its order No. 1900/2017 dated Sept 08, 2017. This order was challenged by Monastery of Holy Ruah (MHR).
The Dicastery for the Eastern Churches, Vatican rejected the appeal of the MHR and upheld the dissolution order of the Archdiocese , according to an official communication from the Vatican’s Apostolic Nunciature, New Delhi, Knikkara said.
The vicar General urged the priests under him to take a special care for no faithful is admitted to the proscribed congregation. The parish priests should inform of the faithful in this regard. Archbishop’s order of April 27,2023 was legally valid still now, Kanikkara said.
