Two Aircraft Damaged After Mid-Taxi Contact at Delhi Airport; Probe Underway

New Delhi: Two passenger aircraft belonging to Akasa Air and SpiceJet were damaged after coming into contact at Delhi airport on Thursday afternoon, prompting an investigation by the aviation regulator.

According to officials, the incident occurred around 2:15 pm at Terminal 1. An Akasa Air Boeing 737 aircraft was stationary on the taxiway and preparing for take-off when a SpiceJet Boeing 737, which was taxiing towards the parking stand, made contact with it.

Both aircraft have been grounded following the incident. Authorities confirmed that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has initiated a probe to determine the cause and assess any lapses in procedure. No injuries have been reported so far.
