Tirupati Stampede Aftermath: 1.2 Lakh ‘Vaikunta Dwara Darshan’ Tokens Exhausted Within Hours

Tirupati: In the aftermath of a tragic stampede at the Tirumala temple’s Vishnu Nivasam token distribution centre, which claimed six lives and injured several others, the distribution of ‘Vaikunta Dwara Darshan’ tokens resumed. Nearly 1.2 lakh tokens were distributed within a few hours, reflecting the high demand among devotees.

The centres, reopened shortly after the stampede, witnessed a massive rush, with devotees queuing up in large numbers to secure their chance for the auspicious darshan during the Vaikunta Ekadasi celebrations. The authorities, overwhelmed by the surge, emphasized that all possible measures were being taken to manage the crowds and ensure safety.

The Tirupati incident has raised concerns about crowd management during peak pilgrim seasons, prompting calls for enhanced security measures and improved facilities to prevent such tragedies in the future.
