The personal assistant of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari was shot dead by unidentified assailants in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district on Wednesday, party sources said.
The victim, Chandranath Rath, who served as the executive assistant to the Leader of Opposition, was attacked on a public road at Doharia in the Madhyamgram area.
He sustained critical injuries in the firing and was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are trying to identify and trace the attackers.
