Sharon Raj Murder Case: Court Convicts Greeshma and Uncle, Acquits Mother

In a pivotal verdict in the Sharon Raj murder case, the Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court in Kerala has convicted Greeshma, the prime accused, and her uncle, Nirmalakumaran Nair, for their roles in the brutal killing of 23-year-old Sharon Raj. However, the court acquitted Greeshma’s mother, Sindhu, citing insufficient evidence.

Greeshma, a 22-year-old woman, was found guilty of multiple charges, including murder (Section 302), kidnapping (Section 364), poisoning (Section 328), and tampering with evidence (Section 201). Her uncle, Nirmalakumaran Nair, was convicted for his involvement in destroying evidence. The sentencing for both Greeshma and Nirmalakumaran is scheduled to be announced this Saturday.

The tragic case centers around the death of Sharon Raj, a radiology student, who was poisoned by Greeshma on October 14, 2022, after she was unable to accept his decision to end their relationship. Sharon eventually succumbed to multiple organ failure on October 25, 2022, after a prolonged battle.

The prosecution presented key digital evidence, including online chats and deleted photos, revealing Greeshma’s premeditated actions. Sharon’s deathbed statement, taken by a magistrate, and testimony from friends provided crucial evidence, leading to her conviction.

Despite the court’s decision, Sharon’s parents expressed their disappointment over Sindhu’s acquittal and vowed to appeal the verdict in a higher court. The case has not only shocked Kerala and Tamil Nadu but has also raised important questions about toxic relationships, manipulation, and the need for thorough legal investigations in such sensitive matters.
