Thiruvananthapuram: The Sabari Rail project remains in limbo as the Central government insists that Kerala provide unconditional consent for cost-sharing. The Railways has made it clear that the project will only move forward if the state agrees to the financial terms without any conditions.
The project, aimed at improving rail connectivity to the Sabarimala pilgrimage center, has been delayed for years due to disagreements over funding. While Kerala has expressed willingness to share costs, it has sought clarifications and conditions on financial commitments, which the Centre has refused to entertain.
With the cost-sharing deadlock still unresolved, the future of the long-pending Sabari Rail project remains uncertain.
