Kerala Bans Summer Classes in Government Schools to Relieve Student Stress

Thiruvananthapuram: In a significant move to prioritize student well-being, the Kerala government has officially banned summer classes in all government-owned schools. The education department has issued a formal notification enforcing this decision.

The initiative aims to reduce academic pressure on students during their vacation while also lightening the workload of teachers.

Although summer classes were never mandatory for government, aided, or unaided schools, many institutions conducted extra sessions for academic support. With this new directive, government schools must strictly adhere to the ban, ensuring students enjoy a stress-free break.

School authorities and teachers are expected to comply with the guidelines, allowing students to make the most of their summer holidays, the education department emphasized.
