Thiruvananthapuram: Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar was formally sworn in as the 23rd Governor of Kerala in a grand ceremony held at Raj Bhavan today. Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court, Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar, administered the oath of office at 10:30 AM.
Arlekar, who takes over from Arif Mohammed Khan, who has been reassigned as the Governor of Bihar, brings a wealth of experience to the post.
The event was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan, senior political figures, government officials, and Arlekar’s family members.
Before his new role in Kerala, Arlekar had served as the Governor of Bihar and Himachal Pradesh. He has been a prominent figure in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and held key positions such as Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly and Minister for Environment and Forests in Goa.
The swearing-in marks a significant transition in Kerala’s gubernatorial leadership, with high hopes for a productive and cooperative relationship between the state government and the office of the Governor.
