PM Modi Praises Maharashtra’s Comprehensive Development Efforts in Maoist-affected Areas

New Delhi, January 2, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his appreciation for the Maharashtra government’s proactive efforts to ensure all-round development in the state’s remote and Maoist-affected regions, especially in districts like Gadchiroli.

In a message shared on social media, PM Modi commended the Maharashtra Government, stating, “I laud the Maharashtra Government’s efforts to ensure all-round development in remote and Maoist-affected areas. This will certainly boost the ‘Ease of Living’ and pave the way for even more progress. A special congratulations to my sisters and brothers of Gadchiroli and the surrounding areas!”

This appreciation follows a significant milestone on January 1, 2025, when 11 Maoists, including senior cadre Vimla Chandra Sidam, surrendered in Gadchiroli in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

During his visit to Gadchiroli, Chief Minister Fadnavis expressed the state’s firm resolve to eradicate Naxal influence in the region, declaring, “The government has started the process to make Gadchiroli the ‘first district’ by eliminating the dominance of Maoists.”

The Maharashtra government’s comprehensive strategy blends security operations with developmental initiatives, focusing on improving infrastructure, education, and healthcare in these previously underserved areas.

Prime Minister Modi’s recognition highlights the effectiveness of an integrated approach to bring both peace and progress to areas affected by extremism, ensuring a brighter future for the people of Gadchiroli and beyond.
