Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is set to witness continued rainfall today and tomorrow, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting light to moderate showers across large parts of the state.
According to the IMD, rain is likely today in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Tomorrow, rainfall is expected mainly in Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. The anticipated rainfall ranges between 16.5 mm and 64.5 mm.
The state experienced widespread rain yesterday, with hilly regions witnessing continuous downpours for several hours. In view of the prevailing conditions, authorities have urged residents, especially in high-range and landslide-prone areas, to remain cautious.
With Sabarimala gearing up for the Makara Jyothi festival, the IMD has also issued a weather advisory for the pilgrimage centres. Light to moderate rain is likely at Pampa, Nilakkal and the Sannidhanam today, with partly cloudy skies and one or two brief spells of rain expected.
Pilgrims and residents have been advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions as Kerala continues to experience unsettled weather conditions.
