Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched Skyroot Aerospace’s cutting-edge Infinity Campus in Hyderabad and unveiled the company’s first orbital rocket, Vikram-I.
Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister traced India’s extraordinary space journey — from a time when rocket parts were transported on a bicycle and bullock cart — to today, when the country is building some of the most reliable and advanced launch vehicles in the world.
PM praised the rise of India’s young innovators and the growing role of private space companies, calling it a “new era in India’s space revolution.”
Skyroot’s newly inaugurated facility is designed to handle the end-to-end development of launch vehicles and can manufacture up to one orbital rocket every month. The star of the launch, Vikram-I, is India’s first privately developed orbital rocket, built using lightweight carbon-composite structures and geared towards the booming global small-satellite market.
The Prime Minister said the achievement highlights India’s ambition to become a global leader in space technology, strengthened by partnerships between ISRO, startups, and private enterprises.
