New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Jammu and Kashmir on January 13, 2025, to inaugurate the highly anticipated Sonamarg Tunnel project. This strategic infrastructure project is expected to significantly boost connectivity and tourism in the region.
The Sonamarg Tunnel, constructed at an altitude of over 2,800 meters, will provide all-weather connectivity to the picturesque town of Sonamarg, which often remains cut off during harsh winters due to heavy snowfall. The tunnel is part of the larger infrastructure push aimed at improving road networks in Jammu and Kashmir.
During his visit, PM Modi will also review various developmental projects and interact with local stakeholders to assess the progress of ongoing infrastructure initiatives.
The inauguration of the Sonamarg Tunnel is expected to enhance economic activities, improve defense logistics, and promote year-round tourism in the region, offering new opportunities for local businesses and employment.
Security arrangements have been intensified across the Union Territory in preparation for the Prime Minister’s visit.
