PM Modi to Inaugurate Z-Morh Tunnel, Unlocking Year-Round Connectivity to Sonamarg

Ganderbal, Jammu & Kashmir: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the strategically vital Z-Morh Tunnel today, January 13, 2025, in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Spanning 6.5 kilometers and built at a cost of ₹2,400 crore, the tunnel will provide seamless, year-round connectivity between Srinagar and the picturesque town of Sonamarg, which was previously cut off during harsh winter months due to heavy snowfall.

The grand inauguration is scheduled for 11:45 am, with extraordinary security measures in place across the district and other parts of Kashmir to ensure a smooth and secure event.

More than just infrastructure, the Z-Morh Tunnel is poised to become a game-changer for the region. It is expected to boost tourism in Sonamarg, ease travel for local residents, and strengthen strategic mobility for the armed forces, contributing significantly to the region’s economic growth and security.
