PM Modi Showcases 11 Years of Groundbreaking Reforms Uplifting Indian Agriculture

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has proudly highlighted the transformation of India’s agricultural sector over the last 11 years, crediting his government’s bold and far-reaching reforms for improving farmer prosperity and driving record growth. Describing agriculture as the “primary engine of development,” PM Modi pointed to historic highs in food and horticultural production as proof of the sector’s revival.

Flagship initiatives such as the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, which has delivered ₹3.75 lakh crore in direct financial aid to over 11 crore farmers, have provided much-needed economic security. The Minimum Support Price (MSP) mechanism, now set at 1.5 times the cost of production, offers a guaranteed return, boosting farmer confidence. Infrastructure has also been a focus, with the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) sanctioning ₹47,500 crore for the development of storage units, cold chains, and processing hubs.

To promote efficient and sustainable farming, the Soil Health Card Scheme has equipped farmers with insights for optimized fertilizer use, while e-NAM has revolutionized market access by digitally linking 1,361 mandis and benefiting 1.8 crore farmers. Additionally, initiatives like the National Mission on Natural Farming and Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana have ushered in an era of eco-friendly, chemical-free farming.

These efforts underscore the Modi government’s commitment to building a resilient, profitable, and sustainable agricultural ecosystem — placing the Indian farmer at the heart of the nation’s progress.
