Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid heartfelt homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his 128th birth anniversary, observed nationwide as Parakram Diwas. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister remarked, “Today, on Parakram Diwas, I pay homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. His contribution to India’s freedom movement is unparalleled. He epitomised courage and grit. His vision continues to motivate us as we work towards building the India he envisioned.”
Born on January 23, 1897, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was a towering figure in India’s freedom struggle, whose relentless efforts significantly advanced the country’s journey to independence. To honor his bravery and selfless service to the nation, the Indian government marks his birth anniversary as Parakram Diwas.
A major milestone in commemorating Netaji’s legacy came in 2022 when a grand statue of him was unveiled at India Gate in New Delhi. This iconic statue replaced the colonial-era canopy that once housed the figure of King-Emperor George V, symbolizing India’s break from its colonial past and the recognition of its true heroes.
Prime Minister Modi’s tribute resonates with the indomitable spirit of Netaji, urging future generations to draw inspiration from his vision and work towards building a self-reliant and powerful India.
