Tragic Train Accident in Jalgaon: 12 Dead, 10 Injured

A devastating train accident near Pachora in Jalgaon district, Maharashtra, claimed 12 lives and left 10 others injured. The incident occurred when passengers of the Pushpak Express, who had disembarked due to a suspected fire, were struck by the passing Karnataka Express on an adjacent track.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep sorrow, stating, “Anguished by the tragic accident on the railway tracks in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured. Authorities are providing all possible assistance.”

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced financial relief of ₹1.5 lakh for the families of the deceased, ₹50,000 for the seriously injured, and ₹5,000 for those with minor injuries. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also extended support, declaring ₹5 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased and assuring that medical expenses for the injured would be fully covered by the state government.

The Railway Board has launched an investigation to uncover the cause of this tragic incident.
