PM Modi on Three-Day Seychelles Visit, to Hold Talks with President Herminie

VICTORIA/NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a three-day State visit to Seychelles, where he is participating as the Guest of Honour at the country’s Golden Jubilee National Day celebrations.

The visit, which began on Saturday at the invitation of Seychelles President Dr. Patrick Herminie, coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles.

During the visit, Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Herminie to strengthen cooperation in maritime security, trade, development and other strategic sectors. Seychelles is regarded as a key maritime partner in India’s Vision MAHASAGAR and its outreach to the Global South.

In a historic first, Modi will also become the first Indian Prime Minister to address the National Assembly of Seychelles, underscoring the strong democratic and parliamentary ties between the two countries.

The Prime Minister is also expected to interact with members of the Indian community in Seychelles and reaffirm India’s commitment to deepening people-to-people ties.

India hopes the visit will further strengthen bilateral relations, enhance maritime cooperation in the Indian Ocean region and advance the shared vision of a secure, peaceful and prosperous Indo-Pacific.
