
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred the “Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit” during a special ceremony in Oslo on Monday.
The honour was presented by King Harald V and is regarded as Norway’s highest civilian honour awarded to foreign Heads of Government. The award recognises outstanding service in the interests of Norway and humanity.
Accepting the honour, Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude to King Harald V and the people of Norway. He dedicated the award to the long-standing friendship between India and Norway, describing it as a recognition of the trust, warmth and goodwill shared by the people of both nations.
The honour is being seen as a reflection of the deepening ties and growing cooperation between India and Norway across multiple sectors.
