On the 10th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY), Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the scheme’s transformative impact on millions of lives across the country. Speaking on April 8, 2025, the Prime Minister applauded the program’s role in driving inclusive economic growth and enabling grassroots entrepreneurship.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi stated, “Today, as we mark #10YearsOfMUDRA, I would like to congratulate all those whose lives have been transformed thanks to this scheme. Over this decade, MUDRA Yojana has turned several dreams into reality, empowering people who were previously overlooked with the financial support to shine.”
The Prime Minister underlined the scheme’s success in reaching marginalized communities, noting that over 50% of MUDRA beneficiaries belong to SC, ST, and OBC categories, while more than 70% are women.
“Every MUDRA loan carries with it dignity, self-respect, and opportunity,” he added. “This initiative is not just about financial inclusion—it has ensured social empowerment and economic freedom.”
Launched in 2015, the MUDRA Yojana provides collateral-free loans to micro and small entrepreneurs, especially those outside the formal banking system. Over the past decade, it has played a pivotal role in “funding the unfunded” and nurturing the spirit of entrepreneurship across India.
