Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has intensified preparedness measures as a deep depression is expected to affect the state on Wednesday night, bringing the possibility of heavy rainfall in several coastal districts.
Men and machinery have been positioned at strategic locations to respond to potential flooding and other rain-related emergencies.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg reviewed the state’s preparedness at a meeting with senior officials on Monday. Collectors of 11 districts participated virtually and were directed to keep cyclone and flood shelters ready to accommodate residents if evacuation becomes necessary.
Authorities are closely monitoring the weather system and have been asked to remain prepared for possible disruptions caused by heavy rain.
