Bhubaneswar: People across western Odisha celebrated Nuakhai, a major agrarian festival, on Tuesday with traditional fervour, offering the season’s first harvest to presiding deities and seeking blessings from elders.
The festival was observed widely in Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Deogarh and Sundargarh districts. Celebrations were also held in parts of Boudh and Angul.
People from different parts of Odisha and other states returned to their native villages to celebrate the festival with their families. President Droupadi Murmu extended her greetings to the people on the occasion.
