Kathmandu: The death toll from devastating flash floods in Nepal has climbed to 788, with rescue teams continuing to recover bodies from affected areas, officials said.
Authorities have also issued fresh warnings over rising water levels in the Bhotekoshi River, urging residents and rescue personnel in flood-hit districts to remain vigilant.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), nearly 9,500 people have been rescued, while more than 2,500 remain missing.
The floods, reported to have been triggered by a possible ice-and-rock collapse or avalanche near the Nepal-Tibet border, caused widespread destruction across towns and villages in northern and central Nepal on August 26.
