Kohima: The Nagaland government on Tuesday introduced a revised bill seeking to establish the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) with legislative, executive, administrative and financial powers over six eastern districts of the state.
The Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) proposed under the FNTA Bill, 2026 will include Tuensang, Mon, Longleng, Kiphire, Noklak and Shamator districts.
The legislation follows the Memorandum of Agreement signed on February 5 between the Centre, the Nagaland government and the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO).
The proposed authority aims to provide decentralised self-governance to the eastern districts while keeping them within Nagaland. The framework is based on Article 371A of the Constitution, which provides special provisions for Nagaland.
