With schools reopening and accidents involving students being reported, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) has issued a warning to parents regarding the safe transportation of schoolchildren.
The MVD has advised parents to send children to school preferably in school buses and avoid using autorickshaws for student transport. It also warned against overcrowding children in autos beyond the permitted limit, stating that such practices increase the risk of accidents.
The advisory follows an incident in which a child was thrown out of an autorickshaw after the vehicle jumped over a speed hump.
Meanwhile, the Motor Vehicles Department is also planning surprise inspections of private school vehicles to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
