In a groundbreaking announcement, Kerala’s Sports Minister, V. Abdurahiman, confirmed that football legend Lionel Messi and the Argentina national team will be visiting Kerala in October 2025 for two thrilling friendly matches. The highly anticipated event will be organized with full support and supervision from the state government.
Titled ‘Olopo Magic,’ the event is being spearheaded by the All Kerala Gold and Silver Merchants Association (AKGSMA), with financial backing from local merchants. The Olopo app, launched during the Grand Kerala Consumer Festival, will facilitate access to the event, where fans can secure entry passes by earning reward points from purchases at retail outlets partnered with the app.
Expected to take place in Kochi, the matches will feature exciting competition, though the opposing teams have yet to be revealed. Minister Abdurahiman, who recently led a high-level delegation to Spain to meet with the Argentine Football Association (AFA), described the meetings as highly productive. As a result, an AFA delegation is scheduled to visit Kerala within two months to finalize the plans.
