New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday underscored the transformative power of laughter and joy in promoting both physical and mental well-being, calling it a timeless remedy for stress and unhappiness.
Addressing a gathering, the Prime Minister said laughter is not merely an expression of happiness but a source of inner strength and good health. Drawing from India’s ancient heritage, he shared a Sanskrit subhashitam to highlight how a cheerful mind plays a vital role in leading a balanced and healthy life.
“Laughter refreshes the body, relaxes the mind, and spreads positive energy in society,” the Prime Minister remarked, noting that Indian traditions have long recognised the deep link between mental peace and physical wellness.
He urged citizens to consciously include laughter in their daily lives—through yoga, meditation, social interactions, and community activities—saying that a happy individual contributes to a harmonious and resilient society.
The Prime Minister’s message struck a chord with many, serving as a gentle reminder that in the rush of modern life, joy, simplicity, and positivity remain essential ingredients for health and happiness, as taught by India’s age-old wisdom.
