Kerala’s ‘Collector Bro’ and Another IAS Officer Suspended Amid Controversy Over Discipline Violations

Thiruvananthapuram: In a surprising disciplinary crackdown, Kerala has suspended two of its prominent IAS officers, including the popular N. Prasanth, widely known as ‘Collector Bro,’ alongside K. Gopalakrishnan, a 2013-batch officer. The suspensions were issued in response to alleged misconduct and violations of civil service rules.

K. Gopalakrishnan’s suspension followed his creation of a WhatsApp group titled “Mallu Hindu Officers,” exclusively for Hindu IAS officers in Kerala. The group reportedly sparked concerns of communal bias, triggering an official investigation led by Chief Secretary Dr. Sharada Muraleedharan.

At the same time, N. Prasanth, who serves as the Director of Neyyattinkara Agro Industries, came under fire for his outspoken comments on social media criticizing Additional Chief Secretary A. Jayathilak. His statements were deemed a breach of conduct rules by senior officials, which led to disciplinary action.

The report from Chief Secretary Sharada Muraleedharan, submitted to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, emphasized the need for strong action, underscoring the state’s zero-tolerance stance on indiscipline among civil servants.
