Kerala to Launch ‘BESS’ in New Year to Tackle Night-Time Power Shortage

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is set to launch the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in the New Year as part of its innovative strategy to address night-time power shortages and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply across the state.

The BESS initiative aims to store surplus electricity generated during peak production hours and redistribute it during periods of high demand, particularly at night. This system is expected to significantly reduce the state’s reliance on costly power imports during nighttime peak hours.

Officials have highlighted that BESS will enhance grid stability, promote the use of renewable energy sources, and contribute to sustainable energy management in the state.

The project is seen as a major step towards Kerala’s green energy goals, ensuring reliable and efficient power distribution for households and industries.
