New Delhi: An Indian national, Thomas Gabriel Perera, a resident of Kerala, was shot dead while attempting to cross into Israel from Jordan. According to reports, he had entered Jordan on a visitor visa before trying to make an unauthorized entry into Israel.
Local authorities have confirmed that border security forces opened fire after he ignored warnings and attempted to breach the border. The exact reasons for his attempted crossing remain unclear.
The Indian Embassy in Jordan is coordinating with local officials to gather more details about the incident and facilitate the repatriation of his body. The Indian government is also in touch with Perera’s family in Kerala.
Further investigations are underway to determine the motive behind his actions and the circumstances leading to the fatal shooting.
