Kerala High Court Questions Trend of Citing Medical Grounds for Bail

Kochi: The Kerala High Court has raised concerns over the increasing trend of seeking bail on medical grounds, stating that such a practice could be seen as an indirect challenge to the judiciary.

Justice P.V. Kunhikrishnan remarked that he would not allow this practice in his court, emphasizing that bail applications based on medical reasons should be genuine and not misused to evade judicial scrutiny.

The court’s strong stance comes amid growing cases where accused individuals seek bail citing health issues, prompting judicial authorities to scrutinize such requests more rigorously.
