Kochi: The Kerala High Court has granted interim bail to three individuals arrested over safety lapses related to the serious injury of Thrikkakara MLA Uma Thomas. The incident occurred when she fell from a 15-foot-high VIP gallery during a grand dance event at Kochi’s Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium.
The accused include M.T. Krishnakumar from Thrikkakara, V. Benny from Mulanthuruthy, and Shameer, the CEO of Mridanga Vision—the company behind the event’s organization. The court has scheduled the next hearing for January 3.
The event aimed to set a Guinness World Record with 12,000 participants performing Bharatanatyam simultaneously. Shockingly, the program continued even after the accident.
Adding to the controversy, several parents accused the organizers of collecting ₹6,000 from each student, promising Guinness World Record certificates despite having sponsors for the event.
Following these allegations, the police registered a cheating case against Mridanga Vision MD Nigosh Kumar, CEO Shameer, Poornima, and Nigosh Kumar’s wife.
Meanwhile, MLA Uma Thomas is undergoing treatment at Renai Medicity Hospital, with reports confirming steady improvement in her health.
